Aarsh Vidyakulamसा विद्या या विमुक्तयेEDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY
From knowledge to understanding, from understanding to discernment, and from discernment to conduct. Education develops responsibility to oneself, society and the world.
THE INDIAN LEARNING TRADITION
In Indian educational traditions, knowledge is understood as a light for life. A learner studies, listens, reflects and practises with an Acharya. In the Gurukul or Acharyakul, subject knowledge and everyday conduct are closely connected.
The booklet includes the learning traditions of both boys and girls. Access to knowledge beyond social and economic distinctions is an important part of its educational ideal.

THE SHASTRAKULAM LEARNING LANDSCAPE
Language, reading, writing and values. A direct dialogue with Indian knowledge traditions through Sanskrit.
A DIALOGUE BETWEEN PAST AND PRESENT
The booklet questions educational purpose in the context of colonial policy, particularly the changes of 1835. Its central question is whether earning a livelihood can be the final purpose of education. This is presented here as the institution’s educational perspective.
Amid discussions of competition, careers and success, questions about people, families and society also matter. Aarsh Vidyakulam invites work towards an indigenous educational vision that brings together Indian traditions, independent thought, equal opportunity and shared wellbeing.
